Catherine Jinks

Catherine Jinks was born in Brisbane in 1963. She grew up in Papua New Guinea and later spent four years studying medieval history at the University of Sydney.

She is an accomplished writer and is very much in demand as a speaker and writer-in-residence at schools, where she conducts mini-workshops. In her free time, Catherine also illustrates and incorporates this skill, as well as music, into her workshops.

Her children's novels include This Way Out, Pagan's Crusade (shortlisted for the 1993 Children's Book Council of Australia (CBC) Book of the Year Award for Older Readers), The Future Trap, Pagan in Exile, Witch Bank, Pagan's Vow (winner of the 1996 CBC Book of the Year Award for Older Readers), The Stinking Great Lie and the Aussie Bite The Horrible Holiday.

Her picture book You'll Wake the Baby has been shortlisted for the 2001 CBC Book of the Year for Early Childhood Award.

Catherine has also written books for adults; An Evening with the Messiah, Little White Secrets and Bella Vista, a wicked comedy set in a Blue Mountain's Guest House, which will be published in July, 2001.
