
Hazel Edwards
Best known for There's a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake, which was recently translated into Chinese, Hazel writes across media, for adults & children.
A literary ambassador, Hazel is involved with the 2012 National Year of Reading and the Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge. She holds 'webinars', mentors and is a director on the Australian Society of Authors' committee. She is the recipient of the 2009 ASA Medal awarded by her writing peers.
Based on her Writing a Non Boring Family History, Hazel runs workshops for genealogists. Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop in the Aussie Heroes series is her latest junior history book and available in print & ebook.
Her latest picture books include Flight of the Bumblebee with classical music CD, Plato the Platypus Plumber and the new Birthday hippo.
E-book literacy mysteries series are available from her website.
Pocket Bonfire Production's 'Hippo' film premiered at St Kilda Film festival for the 30th anniversary of the book and is screening internationally at Edinburgh Film Festival, Austin, Texas and Washington film festivals.
Hazel Edwards is one of Australia's nominees for The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award www.alma.se . This is the third time Hazel has been nominated. The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) is the world's largest prize for children's and young adult literature.
Hazel is married with two adult children and two grandsons for whom she writes stories each birthday.
